WOW, there's alot of things that play into this but for me it's gotta be the creativity.
Despite this fandom pulling me in without my freewill, it has some epic perks to it.
The community is very, very dedicated to that small game, mostly through the mods, which allows creators to put their characters into the internet, or expand upon their favorite franchises.
It's a chance for lots of creators to get their work out there, and the myriad of content gives people like me the chance to meet new people with the same interest or have something new to watch when I get bored. I don't think it's unfair to say that the moding community is the backbone of Friday Night Funkin'.

I could write a whole essay on this but I think FNF was designed in a way that was destined for such a massive fandom. What I've determined based on my interest in Fandom Culture is that people like the ability to imagine the characters in different scenarios, as well as the freedom to add their own stuff to the canon. This is why Self Inserts, Headcanons, AUs and Crossovers are such major pillars of fan content. But with how easy it is to mod the game, people have taken their AU ideas, Crossover ideas and OCs and made something truly unique. I've seen so many different mods of differing genres and aesthetics, some more story driven, some more goofy, but all still feel like FNF. It's kinda hard to explain but there's just something really fascinating to me about Fanon FNF

The same reason why I love the "NotITG" community, the level of creativity we exude that we can then bounce off of each other to then create even MORE crazy mods. I still remember playing the original Vs Whitty back in Feb 2021 and the original version of the "BIG" mods of that era.
When I first started playing FNF, I thought it was very cool & funky. I still remember, The first mod I ever downloaded was VS Agoti. I remember Screenplay was VERY hard! But that's when I decided to be with the buddies at the FNF Community!
